Guide Review - Titus Switchblade

Titus created the Switchblade as a bike that could be used in nearly every category of mountain biking. The Switchblade is light and nimble enough to be a cross country racer yet strong enough to be set up as a freeride cruiser.

We tested the TALAS version of the Titus Switchblade with fully adjustable suspension and geometry. With this setup, we were able to use it in cross country, super-d, and even a couple downhill races.

Now don't get too excited, while it performed as well as a 5-6 inch travel bike could in a downhill, it's not really designed to be a downhill racer. The Titus Switchblades real strengths come to light as a good long travel trail bike. This bike will take you over anything, take a beating, and still get you to the top of a hill as efficiently as a good cross country climber.

The switchblade corners well in all conditions, and I have always been a big fan of fully active Horst link suspensions. The rear end stays soft even with the rear wheel locked up.

Titus has positioned the rider on the Switchblade to heavily weight the rear tire during a climb. This gives you great traction on steeper hills but some riders will find they need to adjust their weight forward to keep the front wheel down.

The interrupted seat tube design of the Titus Switchblade does limit seat height adjustment to a degree. This was not a problem for most of us but our taller testers would have appreciated telescopic seat post.

This bike rocks!
