Personal trainer Allison Westfahl, MS, NASM-PES, USAT, has worked with professional cyclists Tom Danielson, Ryder Hesjedal, Timmy Duggan, Mike Friedman, and Blake Caldwell. She says a cyclist's core is what helps produce power.

"Without a strong core, you will not only lose power in your pedal stroke, you will also be more susceptible to injury, and will suffer from major postural distortion patterns that are common with cyclists," she explained.
