Staying Hydrated

Friday March 14, 2008
For anyone who goes on long rides, hydration should never be overlooked. Staying properly hydrated is a great way to increase your energy level during and after a ride.

When it comes to staying hydrated, it is usually best to take in a little more than just water. Although I never put anything but water in my hydration pack, I always try to add some electrolytes into my system as well. Usually, to do this, I put down most of an energy drink before my ride and finish it after. Other people carry seperate water bottles filled with an electrolyte drink. Otherwise, there are also gells and jelly snacks that work as good sources as well.

So, with all this said, I'm going to suggest that you make a serious effort to stay hydrated and see how much better your body feels during and after your rides. You won't be dissappointed.
