What Kind of Pedals are Best for You

Tuesday January 8, 2008
Your pedals make up a very important connection between you and your bike. Unfortunately, there are lots of options when it comes to pedals that can make it hard to decide what is best for you.

The differences between platform pedals, toeclips, and clipless pedals are huge and can greatly change your biking experience.

While most serious mountain bikers use clipless pedals, there are large groups that swear by platforms. Personally, I like both platforms and clipless pedals, depending on what I'm riding and how I want to ride it. On the other hand, I really don't see any reason for anyone to use toeclips.

For a more detailed look at your pedal choices, check out our guide to choosing the right pedals for your bike.
