Weight Watching

Saturday February 24, 2007

When it comes to buying new bikes and components, I get plenty of questions about weight. I don't think there are too many situations where more weight is better, but there are plenty of situations where the lightest options aren't.

If you're looking to ride the lightest bike out there, I'm probably not the right person to talk to. I'll take performance and reliability over less weight any day, at least within reason. I'm all for a good lightweight bike, but pushing the limits can get you in trouble.

Nonetheless, weight does matter. Our Buyers Guide Section has some great resources to help you make all the right buying decisions including some that keep track of exactly how much everything weighs.
