Pulling on the Bars

Tuesday November 21, 2006
I just started riding again after several months out with a broken arm. I'm glad to be able to get out again and I'm happy to have some good weather for it.

The funny thing is, my arm is still so weak that I can hardly pull the front wheel off the ground without a disastrous turn of the bars at the same time. This is not a good thing since my weak arm certainly wouldn't appreciate another run-in with the ground.

So, all this riding around without lifting the front wheel over anything has reminded me just how important the front wheel lift is to riding properly.

We introduce the idea of getting your wheel up and over obstacles in our Basic Skills Workshop. If you're not getting your wheel over everything you want to, check out the guide and get over it.
