Help for Beginners

Monday June 19, 2006
I have helped a lot of people get started in mountain biking. If there is one thing I have learned, it's that the more enjoyable the first days are, the more people will want to continue to ride.

Possibly the best way to ensure a riders first few rides will lead to more, is to keep their comfort level high and their fear level low. Beginners need to get used to mountain biking at their own pace and pushing too hard at first can quickly turn bad.

First timers have a lot to get used to. We have a great Resource Section for Beginners that starts with our Beginner Skills Workshop designed to help beginners get the confidence and skills they need to ensure a good first few rides.

True! Coming from a semi-beginner, I know of one trail in particular that I attempted too soon (even after 3 mos of hard/good riding) and I will NEVER attempt it again, I took so many diggers I looked like I had been beaten. Anyhow, I hear it is a great trail, but I am never goin back!
