Upgrades

Tuesday May 16, 2006

Upgrading a bike can be a great option, and it's usually a lot cheaper than a new bike. Mountain bike frame designs don't usually take huge leaps in performance or technology so it can be pretty easy to keep up with the industry trends by simply updating components. This is especially true for those of you who like the way your bike feels and rides but feel like some parts may be wearing out or are a little sub-par when compared to the latest component technologies.

Now don't get too excited... it's rare you can upgrade a bike into a different riding category. So don't try to upgrade your XC racing bike into a freeriding big hit machine. Just get a new bike before somebody gets hurt.

We've reviewed some great components for upgrades. Check out the Component Reviews section of our Buyers Guide for some of the latest and greatest.
