How Much Travel Do You Need?

Wednesday March 1, 2006

With all the different mountain bikes available these days, it can be pretty hard to decide how much suspension travel you need. The decision requires you to take a good look at yourself and your riding style.

Until recently the decision was a lot simpler, cross country or long travel, but now there are so many different bike categories to choose from. The medium travel trail bike is quickly becomming the norm while the cross country bike is turning into a race devoted machine, and finally, the longer travel categories are driving the industry in directions none of us imagined 15 years ago.

Who knows what the norm will be in two or three years, but if you take the time to think about what kind of riding you want to do before you start looking at bikes, and read our Suspension Travel Guide, it will make the whole decision a lot easier.
