U.S. Nationals - Day 2

Friday September 16, 2005

The second day of the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Chanmionships was busy with both practice and competition. Several categries of Cross Country Championships took place over the day as well as the non-pro Mountain Cross National Championships. The pros and semi-pros got out on the Mountain Cross course as well for their qualifiers.

The weather could be better. With blue skies, temperatures in the 60's, but a wind that will chill you to the bone, it leaves you never quite satisfied.

The Downhill courses are both fun and there are few complaints about the riding. The Mountain Cross course criss crosses the trench of the Mammoth superpipe with a lot of step-ups and step-downs along the way. A good, unique course with almost every crash taking place on the step-downs.
